Adding a new completely integrated blister packaging line a success for Carton Service - Packaging Insights.

By Paul Glintenkamp

When considering a new completely integrated blister packaging line the Carton Service - Packaging Insights team wanted to make sure we covered all the bases and set the standard for our future. The line needed to be fast, flexible, have the latest technology, be user friendly and be able to be duplicated again for future growth. We also wanted to select suppliers that would grow with us and be strong business partners that we could rely on. Considering the first two projects run on the line in late September and October, the verdict is in - and the decision is an overwhelming success!

At least that is what Eisai, Inc. and Merz Pharmaceuticals think. Once the production started we moved swiftly through our first three validation batches without incident and provided both customers with their product. In fact, the package for Merz, Appearex, included a new design with high quality graphics on both sides of the blister, new insert and carton copy, and a new carton design. Both the sample 7's and 28's commercial blister have run successfully and we've exceeded our expectations at this early stage in production.

The big advantage the new blister line presents is that it is a completely integrated process that offers flexibility, speed, new capabilities and control systems that make for quick troubleshooting and improved uptime. Waiting in the wings to run on the line is a cold form blister project which also falls under the DEA realm of controlled substances.
