NPD in action: Packaging for soups, sauces and spreads
Nov 2018Spreads, sauces and soups are highly susceptible to flavor loss and oxidation which elicits the need for packaging materials that retain the quality and freshness of the product. In order to achieve this, manufacturers are reverting back to glass bottles and jars in lieu of plastic packaging. In the case of soups, the need for greater convenience has prompted manufacturers to move away from cans and adopt plastic alternatives.
Kromkommer Zucchini Soup With Bits of Seaweed (Netherlands). An organic zucchini soup with exciting bits of seaweed made from 100 percent vegetables and free from added sugars, gluten and lactose. Kromkommer’s products aim to fight food waste by using “crooked” vegetables that would otherwise be discarded due to their appearance. The soup is packaged in a plastic tray held in a cardboard sleeve.
