Altered labeling on Nutricia products associated with the new EU regulation
From December 2014 a new EU regulation entered into force regarding the labeling of foodstuffs (EU 1169/2011). Since the regulation also covers foods for special medical purposes (FSMP) the labels on Nutricia products are to get a new appearance.
- Writing on the labels gets bigger, allowing for improved readability.
- Order of macronutrients modified and printed as fat, carbohydrate, dietary fiber, protein, instead of protein, carbohydrate, fat, dietary fiber.
- Declaration of the oils contained in vegetable fat.
- Abbreviations such as B1 after thiamine in the nutrition table has been removed
- Amendment to the unit for some minerals:
- Copper and manganese, in mg instead g
- Niacin declared in both the mg and the Niacin equivalent, mg NE
- Both sodium and salt declared.
