Heineken Vietnam boosts beer production with Gebo Cermex installations
08 Nov 2018 --- A subsidiary of the Heineken Group, Heineken Vietnam, has boosted its production output without disrupting the brewery operation through its long-term partnership with Gebo Cermex. With the partnership, the solutions Sidel filler and EvoFILL Can were installed to increase production capacity in a sustainable way.
“We wanted to buy a new complete can line, doubling the capacity of the existing ones. However, a typical challenge is that you have to install the equipment while the brewery is in operation. This is why you have to look at the layout very well but – thanks to the experienced line design team from Gebo Cermex – we overcame this obstacle,” says Paul Bleijs, Suppy Chain Director at Heineken Vietnam Brewery.
Sustainability is key for Heineken. In 2017, the brewery was recognized as the most sustainable manufacturing company in Vietnam by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), based on the annual Corporate Sustainability Index. Paul adds, “Besides good productivity levels, this line is consuming less energy and water, thus contributing to a very good return on investment for us.”
Sidel launched its EvoFILL can filler earlier this year. According to the company, EvoFILL Can will guarantee food safety, minimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), cater to numerous can sizes and swiftly change between still and carbonated beverages.
Furthermore, without compromising the performance of the line, a wide range of beverage temperatures can now be processed: beer can be filled up to 18°C and carbonated soft drinks over 20°C. All of this eliminates the need for a chilling unit, thus achieving energy savings.
“The ergonomics and safety architecture of the solution are great: it is very easy to operate, to maintain, and to clean,” concludes Ha Minh Thanh, Packaging Manager at HEINEKEN Vietnam.
Gebo Cermex works in partnership with Sidel as part of The Sidel Group. The group has over 37,000 machines installed in more than 190 countries.
