Maître Prunille is a French company, supplying dried fruit and nut products to a number of major UK retailers. In 2009, the companies UK agents, Univeg, highlighted the need to comply with changes in retailer’s codes of practice relating to the correct packaging and labelling of products. Upon recommendation from Univeg, Maître Prunille enlisted the support of OAL to ensure compliance with retailer's codes of practice at their largest site in Casseneuil, responsible for 70% of their total production. The site has installed OAL Autocoding to ensure that all fruit and nut products leaving their factories in France have the correct packaging and labelling before reaching the UK. OAL Autocoding has since been rolled out across Maitre Prunille to two more of its manufacturing sites in France.
“Having used the system before, I felt I could recommend OAL Autocoding because it meets the compliance requirements and more importantly it’s easy to use and set up,” comments Myriam Payan, Technical Manager, Univeg UK Ltd.
The OAL Autocoding system provides complete packaging control. Every foil is scanned to match foil to product. If any foil/pot/product mismatch occurs, the line stops and operator are alerted to the line in error. The system also incorporates scheduled quality checks that have helped remove unnecessary paperwork from the packing line. This also includes start and end of run quality assurance checks that ensures package security. Significantly the system provides a full operator audit trail, particularly useful for compliance with retailers codes of practice.
