Local dairy giant Yili has introduced a premium milkshake product in China, featuring packaging design with a Scandinavian touch for brand differentiation.
Yili wanted to capture a market opportunity in the premium dairy beverage market, by developing a new high-end milkshake that comes in two flavours – chocolate and papaya.
Born out of a tight collaboration between Tetra Pak in-house studio supported by No Picnic, Tetra Pak China and Yili, the product and packaging have become a unique hit since its launch in China in spring 2012.
The package is a carton-based Tetra Prisma Aseptic, and Tetra Pak’s design studio was asked to create the brand identity and graphic design.
As Yili wanted a Scandinavian touch to the packaging design in order to stand out on the shelves in China, the package features white and clean surfaces, and elegant hand-created typography, photography and illustrations tailored for the various package panels. Beautiful metallic details give the packaging design an additional appeal factor.
