Tetra Pak CPS Gets Green Light
Sherborne based Tetra Pak CPS Ltd is the latest Tetra Pak company to be awarded the internationally recognised ISO 14001 environmental management standard.
This achievement is a powerful statement about the green credentials of Tetra Pak CPS and its commitment to reduce its impact on the environment, which in turn will also lead to significant financial benefits for the company.
Tetra Pak CPS has already substantially reduced its carbon footprint by minimising water consumption and switching to energy efficient lighting. In doing so cost savings of around £12,000 per annum have been identified. In the long term these savings will be passed on to the company’s customers.
After six months of intense preparation under the watchful guidance of Environmental Co-ordinator David Plant, the leading provider of capital equipment and turnkey systems introduced 13 new procedures and successfully completed a three day long audit process, which led to the attainment of this highly sought after accolade.
Mr Plant said: “The overall accreditation process was an extremely positive team building experience and has made the entire Tetra Pak CPS workforce more conscious of environmental impacts in all aspects of the business from the design and manufacture of equipment through to the purchase of materials and office supplies.
“Achieving the ISO 14001 standard highlights our commitment to the environment and has improved working conditions and standards. All employees have had to work extremely hard - having to adapt quickly to new demanding procedures.”
Renowned worldwide for the quality and design of its processing equipment, Tetra Pak CPS can now also demonstrate its superior environmental management standards, which will be reflected in the design of machinery and in the way the company operates.
Following the success of acquiring this latest accreditation for its Sherborne site, Mr Plant is now guiding one of the US divisions of Tetra Pak to help them achieve the same environmental credentials over the next few months.
