Allied Glass Containers has recently created a new beautifully embossed and intricately screen printed bottle for the launch of R&B Distillers Borders Whisky. A unique bottle, Zoe White Marketing Manager for R&B Distillery, says: "In creating the vessels for our whisky we wanted to engineer something that reflected the innovation and craft of the liquid inside, something modern and striking in character, while remaining illustrative of the age old traditions that only Scotch whisky is built on."
The initial designs for Borders single grain went by another name, Tweedale. So, elements of the original Tweedale narrative were brought together for the new bottle design, the River Tweed and the Scottish Border town of Cold Stream being prominently screen printed onto the bottle. The bottle also uses embossing of the R&B logo to elevate its visual prominence. Borders is a single grain whisky first matured in Bourbon casks before being finished in Oloroso sherry barrels, creating a "softer-lighter" lowland style.
A small batch, limited edition blend drawn from nine single casks; an aged single grain whisky and eight individually selected aged single malt whiskies, with a high malt content. In keeping with the original blend by Richard Day, it has not been chill filtered and has been bottled at 46% alcohol by volume. This ensures a complex, full bodied and full flavored whisky with pronounced sweet, sherry notes. It contains 50% wheat and 50% malted barley.
