From October, Coca-Cola Amatil and Woolworths will launch a new purple lid for the bottled Deep Spring water brand in support of the Avner Nahmani Pancreatic Research Foundation.
10c from the sale of each 600ml or 1.25L purple-lid Deep Spring bottle in Woolworths and Big W stores will be donated towards research into treatment and improved patient outcomes for pancreatic cancer, one of the most aggressive and deadly forms of cancer.
Each year, more than 1,900 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, 95% of whom will not survive beyond five years after being diagnosed. Pancreatic cancer currently fails to receive the same level of research and funding as other forms of cancer.
Coca-Cola Amatil has recently joined Woolworths in an effort to build greater awareness of pancreatic cancer and raise funds to support research and improve patient outcomes.
The Avner Nahmani Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund was established in 2008 in memory of Avner Nahmani, a valued Woolworths employee who lost his life to pancreatic cancer. In the same year, Mike Hall, a long standing Coca-Cola executive, also lost his battle against pancreatic cancer.
The companies anticipate that the sale of the Deep Spring purple bottles will raise close to $500,000 over the next 12 months.
