Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ - CGNX), the world's leading supplier of machine vision systems, today announced ProofRead ™, an optical character verification (OCV) system that ensures information is correctly printed onto pharmaceutical, food, beverage, and personal care product labels and packages. With ProofRead, manufacturers can ensure the right date, lot or product code is printed, the right labels are placed onto the right products, and the right product is placed into a carton or box. ProofRead includes OCVMax, a breakthrough in character verification technology. For the first time, characters can be verified, even when they are printed on curved or flexible surfaces or distorted during the printing or packaging process. The intuitive graphical interface guides the user in configuring vision tasks, cameras, and I/O, while the touch screen interface enables line operators to easily view images, review results and statistics, and perform product changeover. With built-in security, change tracking, and logging capability, ProofRead also helps ensure compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 regulations. In addition to character verification, ProofRead comes equipped to read 2D matrix codes, RSS, and 1D bar codes, providing a complete solution for package integrity and product traceability. A single ProofRead system can utilize up to four cameras to verify characters and read codes at multiple stations on a packaging line, reducing the overall cost per inspection. ProofRead is available in three configurations: a board-level configuration for OEMs and system integrators, a ProofRead system including a PC, and a fully packaged system complete with PC and stainless steel enclosure. Alternatively, customers can purchase the OCVMax tool for use with any Cognex VisionPro® PC vision system to integrate into their own application.
