Coveris markets resealable trays for better shelf life and convenience
Coveris has launched a resealable monomaterial tray solution for refrigerated food applications. The MonoFlexBP tray replaces non-recyclable, mixed-material packaging and improves shelf life and consumer convenience.
MonoFlexBP offers an advanced resealing system that allows the tray to be reclosed multiple times, helping to reduce food waste and improve user experience.
In addition, Coveris provides thermoformable bottom films for product protection and shelf life extension of chilled products.
“With this sustainable alternative to non-recyclable materials, Coveris continues to lead the way in circular packaging innovation, offering high-performance solutions that address environmental impact and consumer demand,” says Katja Killian, business development director at Coveris’ business unit Flexibles.
Tray and lid combo
Coveris offers a PET- and PA-free lidding film for applications requiring high oxygen barriers. The film seals, peels, and reseals effectively on PP trays, according to the company.
The resealable lid features a high gas barrier needed to maintain product freshness. Coveris says the combination of recyclable MonoFlexBP trays and reclosable lidding films delivers a solution that balances sustainability, functionality, and consumer convenience.
Furthermore, the trays are said to be compatible with existing packaging machinery.
The solution can be used for processed meats, sausages, dairy products, cheese, and other chilled or refrigerated items.
For added visual appeal and branding flexibility, the trays can be printed using gravure or flexographic methods and are also available with a matte or paper-effect lacquer finish.
