Dairypack's New 3lt Dairy Can

10/08/07 Keeping the needs of the dairy in mind, Dairypack has re-designed its 3-litre dairy can.
Cost-effective packing and logistics were top of mind and the new 3-litre dairy can has been carefully designed to allow eight 3-litre dairy cans (a total of 24 litres) to fit comfortably into a standard dairy crate. "With twelve 2-litre dairy cans being packed in a crate this ensures that the litreage per crate remains the same when you are delivering 3-litres and 2litre cans," says Graham Haird, regional director of Dairypack.
To minimise filling machine changes, the label area is at the same height as that of the 2-litre dairy can, hence minimal labelling machine adjustments are required when changing over. This, together with the fact that the 3-litre is the same height as the 2-litre also reduces filling machine changeover time. Decoration of the bottle can be done using either adhesive labels or stretch sleeving.
Good crate fit was ensured by designing the bottle to withstand "bulging" once it is filled; while at the same time keeping it the same height as the 2-litre dairy can. The shape of the bottle has also been designed to be as robust as possible to resist denting. This consumer-friendly container fits perfectly into fridge doors.
