Embossed Lid Ensures LÄTTA Style

The manufacturing and printing expertise of RPC Bebo Plastik has been instrumental in creating a unique identity for Unilever's top-selling Lätta margarine brand with the introduction of an eye-catching printed embossed lid. Unilever wanted to reflect Lätta's status as Europe's leading margarine with a rebranding exercise that would distinguish the product from its competitors. The resulting lid redesign, developed by Unilever in conjunction with its design agency and RPC Bebo Plastik, retains the multi-coloured Lätta logo but further enhances it through embossing and the inclusion of a 'water drop' effect on the surface. Whereas the previous lid was post-printed, with the new design the sheet is printed first and then embossed during thermoforming. RPC Bebo Plastik carried out a series of detailed tests to perfect this technically challenging operation, particularly to ensure accurate colour registration on the raised surface of the logo. To achieve the rich, vibrant colours required by Unilever, RPC has used irodine, a pigment known for creating stunning, iridescent colour effects. Irodine is also used to similar effect in the label for the injection moulded IML container from RPC Bramlage Celle as part of RPC's major supply deal with Unilever to produce packs for the company's margarine brands throughout Europe.
