Fogg Company, a market leader in the design and manufacture of rotary filling systems for the liquids industry, announced today the introduction of Micro-bloc antimicrobial technology as a new feature available in all Fogg elastomers and lubricants. Utilizing patented inorganic ion-exchange resins, Micro-bloc is a proactive antimicrobial rubber that provides residual protection against contamination. Because the antimicrobial agent is an integral ingredient, Micro-bloc qualities will not diminish over time or usage. Its inorganic silver base provides continual effectiveness, even in high wear or abrasive applications, against a wide spectrum of microorganisms, and potentially reduces the need for costly, time-consuming cleaning and decontamination procedures associated with conventional elastomers. In addition to inhibiting bacterial growth, the antimicrobial agents are safe for human contact and FDA approved. Fogg has begun offering the Micro-bloc technology on all filler systems, and will also make retrofit packages for Fogg fillers in the field. Micro-bloc technology is one aspect of Fogg’s growing commitment to extended shelf life filling. Other features include Tri-Line Valve, manufactured to 3A standards for efficient CIP operations, HEPA filtration to provide laminar airflow, one touch CIP technology, steam cap sterilization, and Sanibar spray systems with automatic rinse cycle.
