New models underline Ishida versatility
A brand new automatic flavouring system demonstration unit for snacks and the world’s smallest multihead weigher for high-value, ultra-low target weight applications will be two of the highlights of the Ishida stand at Gulfood, where the company will demonstrate its extensive range of packing equipment capable of handling the widest variety of foods and pack types.
Also on show will be an enhanced version of Ishida’s pioneering weigher for granular products, and its proven Atlas iTPS™ high speed snack food packing system. Another recent Ishida innovation on display will be its P-SPA Portable Strip Pack Applicator for effective in-store display of pillow packs, while quality control solutions include the latest DACS checkweigher with advanced IDCS software, and X-ray system.
The new FastBack Revolution On-Machine seasoning and product distribution system from Ishida’s worldwide partner, Heat and Control, Inc., enables snack manufacturers to apply seasonings at the point of packaging for accurate and uniform coverage using less seasoning. The Revolution system distributes proportional amounts of snacks to multiple weigher/bagmakers without ‘starving’ end-of-line units. Different flavourings can be applied at each weigher/bagmaker. Seasoning feed is controlled by load cell and matched to product flow for precise and consistent application rates to help processors maintain labelling targets for sodium and other flavourings. Operation of the Revolution system is controlled by the individual product needs of each weigher/ bagmaker to obtain longer equipment ‘run times’ and greater operating efficiency.
The On-Machine seasoning and product distribution system is being shown alongside Ishida’s advanced iTPS™ snack packing system, which provides an integrated solution for the weighing and packing of products into bags. The system comprises an Ishida multihead weigher and Atlas bagmaker combination along with throat metal detector, printer, sealtester and checkweigher. The Atlas bagmaker features an innovative double rotary jaw motion and superior control technology to offer speeds of up to 250 bpm with accurate film registration and tight bag seals while minimising raw material waste, film loss and downtime for film changes.
The Ishida ‘Lilliput’ multihead weigher has been specifically designed for small target weight products ranging from 0.7g to 40g, such as seeds and soup ingredients, delivering excellent accuracy and efficiency levels close to 100% at top speeds of up to 120wpm. The ‘Lilliput’ weigher is extremely compact with a footprint of only 650mm x 650mm and a height of just 970mm, allowing significant floor space savings for manufacturers.
Ishida’s recently launched Portable Strip Pack Applicator (P-SPA) is a compact, space saving and value for money model, which produces ready-to display hanging strips of pillow packs for retail display.
The P-SPA heat seals the top of each pack to Ishida’s patented strip tape.
The temperature, attachment pressure and placement are fully adjustable to ensure that different size and weight bags are attached consistently to the tape, with enough resistance to prevent them from becoming detached during the packing and distribution process while still being easy to remove by consumers. Packs can also be easily reattached to the strip.
The DACS-G is the latest addition to Ishida’s checkweigher range. The new model is capable of exceptional speeds while maintaining high accuracy, and, at the touch of a button, can switch between two weighing ranges, allowing manufacturers to handle a larger weight range on one machine. A unique Dislocating Force Limiter automatically disconnects the weigh sensor from the weigh conveyor should sudden excessive force be applied (for example during clean down), protecting the DACS-G against rough handling.
All models in the DACS range can be easily integrated with the Ishida Data Capture System (IDCS), a user-friendly, secure software programme that can record the data of every pack weighed from up to 100 checkweighers into a single secure database. The IDCS offers an extensive range of reporting options to enable production managers to employ state-of-the-art monitoring for legislative compliance while also identifying cost saving opportunities, minimising product giveaway and improving production efficiencies.
Ishida’s IX-GA range of X-ray inspection systems can detect a variety of contaminants including metal, glass, bones, shells, stones, hard rubber and plastic. The machines incorporate unique self-learning Genetic Algorithm (GA) technology, which offers maximum detection sensitivity and reliability, with the most sophisticated models detecting impurities down to 0.3mm in size, and also spotting missing items or damaged products.
