The Big Island's Punaluu Bakeshop and Visitor Center is wrapping its signature sweet bread with a new look. Punaluu Sweetbread is the company's first product to be wrapped in a bright, tapa-print package. Packaging is color coded to identify flavor: blue is for traditional, purple is for taro, pink is for guava and red is for cinnamon/raisin/macadamia nut. These products should now be available on Big Island grocery shelves. "The new wrapping has a real island flair," said Connie Koi, general manager at the Punaluu Bakeshop and Visitor Center. "It reflects the aloha spirit of our newly renovated bake shop and visitor center. We chose the Hawaiian tapa design because our sweet bread is an island tradition, a favorite of so many long-time residents of Hawaii." Located in Naalehu, The Punaluu Bakeshop and Visitor Center recently expanded its retail area and is planning to enlarge its menu and dining area. A new refrigerated showcase displays the growing selection of baked goods, such as Punaluu Sweet .
