Mikado has seen huge success since its launch in 2009, and the brand is now worth £10.3 million with year on year UK growth a massive 23.9 per cent. The ultra-thin, crunchy biscuit sticks covered with wonderfully smooth milk chocolate have proved very popular in the convenience trade, offering a quick and quirky treat for customers on the go.
Mikado has also benefited from a £3 million marketing investment in 2010, which has helped to get consumers even more excited about the product and the brand.
Steve Mounty, director of convenience and distributive at Kraft Foods UK, said: “Sales of PMPs have doubled over the last two years, and are driving growth in the biscuits sector in convenience, with 48 per cent of shoppers saying that price marked packs encourage them to buy.
“Mikado is a unique product, and people love the cheeky personality of the brand. It’s ideal to share or for an individual treat on the go, and our new, stand-out PMPs will make it even easier for consumers to check they’re getting great value for money.”
