ProAmpac to showcase ProActive Sustainability range at Packaging Innovations 2022
20 May 2022 --- ProAmpac is gearing up to begin Packaging Innovations 2022 in Birmingham, UK, next week by emphasizing its European ProActive Sustainability flexible packaging portfolio and digital print capabilities. A highlight will be its post-consumer recyclate (PCR) solution, which can help companies avoid the UK Plastic Packaging Tax.
The company has increased its manufacturing footprint in the UK and Ireland over the last 16 months to include industry players such as Rapid Action Packaging, IG Industries, Brayford Plastics, Ultimate Packaging, Euroflex, Irish Flexibles and Fispak.
“We are thrilled to invite show attendees to learn more about our award-winning sustainable packaging solutions, including options for the fresh food to-go market, and expanded capabilities portfolio to support continuous innovation,” says Adam Grose, chief commercial officer for ProAmpac.
ProActive environmental efforts
ProAmpac offers environmentally sustainable flexible packaging in four product groups:
- ProActive Recyclable: Flexible packaging designed for PE, PP and paper recycling streams and includes mono-material packaging solutions designed for the future of advanced recycling.
- ProActive PCR: The package incorporates PCR content to meet UK Plastics Packaging Tax exemptions and brand sustainability goals.
- ProActive Renewable: Packaging that incorporates bio-based resins.
- ProActive Compostable: Packaging that degrades in a biologically active compost environment.
The company’s ProActive Sustainability suite supports various market needs, including specialized structures that are optimized for the Fresh Food To-Go market.
From deli sandwiches to hot wraps, ProAmpac’s fresh food-to-go suite of products is designed for environmental sustainability and built for long-lasting performance. With an understanding of retailers’ commitments to environmentally friendly packaging, ProAmpac has pledged to remove avoidable packaging and use the least amount of materials possible to reduce weight.
The company’s fiber-based packaging is derived from environmentally sustainably certified forests and is widely recyclable in paper streams.
The packaging range includes: Sandwich Packs; HandRaps; SoftPacks, and Trays. Also on display at the show will be RecycAll Freshpack, ProAmpac’s award-winning all-fiber sandwich skillet. The ProActive Sustainability range.
Digital Print
In addition, ProAmpac will showcase its in-house digital print expertise. Suitable for short print runs with low minimum order quantities, digital printing enables the launch of new products, facilitates limited edition print runs, and allows customers to print elaborate and intricate designs. As packaging volumes increase, ProAmpac says it can convert brand art from digital to high-definition flexographic printing.
Digital printing represents only the latest addition to ProAmpac’s deep capabilities portfolio. As a brand, ProAmpac can also supply customers in the UK and Europe with capabilities such as high-definition flexographic printing, lidding and film converting, Modified Atmosphere packaging, high-speed wicket bag production, bag and pouch converting, and more.
Avoiding the UK Plastic Packaging Tax
Amid the confusion and rising costs inflicted on packaging companies in the UK by the UK Plastic Packaging Tax, ProAmpac this year launched its PCR Retort pouches to help businesses avoid the levy.
The pouches offer 30% PCR content or more by weight, reducing the use of virgin resins in the packaging.
Also, this year, ProAmpac launched a monomaterial film for microwave vegetable steaming. The PE-based solution fulfills the market requirements for a recyclable packaging option that withstands the demands of a microwave heating environment.
ProAmpac will be at Packaging Innovations at stand G60 from 25-26 May 2022.
