Searching for an innovative solution to reflect the thrill seeking qualities of the eau de toilette, the team behind the fragrance turned to the design experts at Sheridan&Co. The end result was a glorifier, encapsulating the fact that Polo Red takes inspiration from Ralph Lauren’s exquisite car collection. With a black, gloss acrylic base featuring both the Ralph Lauren and Polo Red logos, the glorifier has an acrylic back riser, showcasing an image of Nacho Figueras, Argentinian polo player and face of the fragrance. In the promotional image, Nacho wears a racing jacket and is pictured in front of a series of criss-crossing tail lights. Picking up on this feature, the team at Sheridan&Co developed an illuminated diode, shaped in the arc of a road’s bend and designed to mimic the red taillights of the cars racing into the distance. The top of the curvature houses a machine-grooved footprint to hold the fragrance bottle. For Michael Sheridan, chairman and founder of the glorifier provides an intense, powerful and striking visual representation of the fragrance: “At a time when are broadening our creative services, are pleased that L'Oreal recognize design as a tangible differentiator to promote Polo Red and are proud to be providing creative input and working on the Ralph Lauren Fragrance brand.” Benjamin Schafir, director of global marketing at Ralph Lauren Fragrances, added: “Our shared challenge was to create an in-store visual presence for a brand that was created to break boundaries by introducing a modern, risk taking attitude to a classic, successful fragrance franchise. Sheridan&Co was the perfect design partner to bring to life this new vision of strategic change in the point of sale. “Sheridan&Co’s taste and luxury aesthetic were paramount. The team captured both the existing spirit of our brand and translated the dream of our new direction from concept to counter. Because of the impact of Sheridan&Co’s work on the counter tester unit, subsequently changed all in-store merchandising and windows worldwide to follow Sheridan&Co’s aesthetic direction.” Sheridan&Co’s glorifier is being used to promote the Polo Red fragrance in stores worldwide. The Ralph Lauren Fragrances project for The L'Oreal Group is the latest addition to Sheridan&Co’s health, beauty and luxury fragrance client portfolio, which also includes Estee Lauder Group, Procter & Gamble, Elizabeth Arden and Clarins.
