The Pehrcap, a new tamper-evident closure for beverages, offers cost savings because of its design, which reduces the amount of plastic needed. Tabs that protrude straight from the skirt of the cap are molded in one piece as part of the closure. They are connected by thin membranes. The prototype screw-capping head forces the rigid tabs over the lower shoulder of the bottle finish. When the closure is turned to be opened, the shoulder acts as a cam, and the membrane is fractured.
