The design agency’s brief was to create a packaging design that would stand out on shelf, while “sitting comfortably within the Kettle portfolio”.
The Kettle Tortilla Chips come in four flavours: Sea Salted, Cool Sour Cream, Sweet Chilli Salsa and Nacho Cheese.
According to Turner Duckworth, the packaging had to “communicate the quality and range of flavours that customer’s expect from the Kettle brand without appearing too formal or overly sophisticated”.
The agency said the new packs are now more “colourful” and “reflect the informal, sociable side of tortilla chips, without forgetting the use of real food ingredients, which are a core brand value for Kettle”.
A spokeswoman from Turner Duckworth added: “Our colour strategy was to draw the consumers’ attention by deliberately using colours outside of the category norms. We tried to capture a vibrancy and freshness with the colours that would communicate Kettle Tortilla’s delicious Mexican-inspired flavours and stand out on shelf.”
The design agency used photographic images of the ingredients arranged in the iconic triangular form of a tortilla chip to reinforce the” great natural taste”.
