Two Oceans Unveils Tetra Pak Wine
The innovative new design results in a convenient and cost effective option with the 1L pack retailing at the same price as the 75cl bottle, so consumers benefit as well as the environment.
29/11/2007 Launching the new concept for the Two Oceans brand, which is in distribution through WaverleyTBS, Distell have unveiled an environmentally packaging option made from recyclable materials.
The Two Oceans Tetra Prisma Pack is a first for the UK category and follows the success of the same packaging format in South Africa across a number of Distell’s brands, including Drostdy-Hof and Obikwa.
The innovative new design results in a convenient and cost effective option with the 1L pack retailing at the same price as the 75cl bottle, so consumers benefit as well as the environment.
It is also easy to carry with no risk of shattering, so ideal for picnics and al fresco dining. The pack chills in the fridge rapidly, is easy to open and has a resealable cap.
Gary Greenfield, managing director of Distell Europe, said: “It is fantastic that Distell are the first to introduce this style of packaging to the South African category in the UK. We have been following the success of this format in South Africa with four of our brands, and felt it was the right time to introduce it to the UK with Two Oceans.”
The 100% recyclable Tetra Prisma Pack also has many green credentials. The cost to recycle it is less than glass and it produces an excellent source of paper fibre, which in turn can be used in a wide range of products, overall reducing the waste by 90%.
Elaine Dickie, category marketing manager for WaverleyTBS said: "We are really pleased to be able to work with Distell in bringing such an innovative pack to the market and it is a great addition to our South African portfolio. With growing concerns on waste and recycling it is the ideal time to offer our consumers an alterative option."
Due to its unique shape and material it also takes up very little shelf space and is easy to transport, with one truck needed to carry the same number of packs transported by 25 trucks of the glass equivalent.
Gary continued: “As South Africa’s largest drinks company, we at Distell are committed to doing what we can in helping the environment as we know it is something which our customers are concerned with too.
“With the Tetra Prisma Pack we are taking another step forward to reduce waste by using 100% recyclable materials and by reducing carbon emissions through transport. We are confident that this format for Two Oceans will be a great success.”
Two oceans is currently listed in Somerfield and Budgens and Distell/WTBS are activity seeking incremental opportunites for this new pack format.
