31 May 2023 --- At Interpack 2023, PackagingInsights spoke with Johan Nilsson, chief services officer at Syntegon, about the company’s display of food packaging solutions across the tradeshow floor. Regarding its digital services, Nilsson says Syntegon helps companies make better business decisions by accessing data and describes how Synexio, its cloud-based digital solution, gives the company access to data regarding its manufacturing line performance.
18 May 2023 --- Aimplas is investing in R&D of natural polymers for single-use packaging to fit the European legislative changes. Lorena Rodriguez Garrido, packaging group leader at Aimplas, flags standardization of protocols for reusable packaging legislation and material waste stream pose challenges for food packaging. Additionally, the proposed Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (PPWD) revisions will help resolve the industry’s greenwashing problem, she says.
16 May 2023 --- At Interpack 2023, we speak with ATS-Tanner’s content manager Thomas Weber about the company’s latest innovations, including its “TruePaper” ultrasonic and heat-sealable paper band. He discusses the necessity of reducing packaging materials to the “absolute minimum” and how European governments must harmonize legislation to aid industry in these efforts.
15 May 2023 --- Arne Wiese, product manager of bottles and shapes and Sören Storbeck, product manager packaging division at KHS, talk about the company’s new Loop Lite bottle at Interpack 2023. KHS shows off a tool designed by the University of Hamburg, Germany, that compares different products and materials for bottle solutions. Wiese explains how the Loop Lite cuts production emissions by 36%. Wiese continues that the need for rPET can be mitigated by an increased collection of not only bottles but other packaging solutions across sectors.
