Amcor PET Packaging launches Quad bottle family with improved strength, denser packs
QuadPlus is ideal for companies who want to upgrade without investing money in change parts and who do not want to change their existing rectangular bottle footprint.
23/06/06 Amcor PET Packaging launches a new family of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) containers - QuadPlus and QuadMax3 - which offers improved strength for hot-filled beverage applications.
The QuadPlus offers a more rigid, stronger alternative for 46-/48- and 64-ounce, hot-filled rectangular PET bottles. QuadPlus is ideal for companies who want to upgrade without investing money in change parts and who do not want to change their existing rectangular bottle footprint.
QuadMax3 (pronounced quad max cubed) also offers a more rigid alternative. This design is for beverage applications currently in round PET containers or already in a rectangular footprint but interested in converting to 64- or 46-/48-ounce rectangular footprints with space-saving geometry. The QuadMax3’s denser pack pattern offers improved shipping economics. Both sizes have a 43mm finish.
The "cubed" portion of the brand name reflects the increased cube efficiency of 15 percent per bulk pallet (empty containers) and by 8 percent for cases (filled containers) per pallet.
Additionally, the technological advances behind this new, stronger heat-set "Quad" family have also yielded a side benefit of further lightweighting.
Traditional PET bottle lightweighting can cause sidewall sag and/or denting, poor label application due to impaired sidewall performance, variable fill weights and give consumers a "cheaper" feel. However Amcor’s Quad family’s leading-edge technology not only offers added strength, but it does so at lighter weights.
The Quad Plus features:
• Variable body cross-sections add radial stiffness, yielding consistent product weights and a dent-resistant body under hot-fill conditions.
• Unique base-heel structure provides a solid foundation for delivering top load (stacking) improvement.
• Container handling points and body ribs have been designed to flex under load (rather than buckle) offering a "self-healing" package.
• Patent-pending technology offers immediate systems savings to those currently filling product in a stock rectangular container.
• Also available in 46-/48-ounces, but with a different footprint.
In addition, QuadMax3 also features:
• Bulk pallet pattern (between Amcor and filler) improves by 15% compared to 64-ounce, stock rectangular containers. Case pallet pattern (between filling and retail) increases 8%.
• Identical footprint for 46-, 48- and 64-ounce containers eliminates production line changeover when switching sizes.
• Optional features include: offset neck, bumper interlock for multipacks and 38 mm finish.
