Coca-Cola European Partners has revealed its plans for Christmas 2017, which includes the return of its Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour and “Holidays Are Coming” TV advert, as well as its limited edition Christmas packs and sponsorship of Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball. A limited edition Christmas packaging will be available across Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Coca-Cola Classic, and Diet Coke flavors in 330ml cans, 500ml PET bottles, 1.25-litre and 1.75-litre bottles, as well as the wrapping on multipacks. A new 4x250ml glass bottle multi-pack with Christmas snowflake graphics will also be available.
To support the launch, the company’s “Holidays Are Coming” advert will air from the middle of November, which will prompt the Coca-Cola Christmas Trucks to visit 53 locations around the UK. The trucks will be fitted with recycling bins as part of Coca-Cola’s “biggest ever” communications campaign to encourage more people to recycle. Coca-Cola will also be collaborating with Capital FM for its 9th annual Jingle Bell Ball, where an estimated 32,000 attendees will receive a sample of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar.
Simon Harrison, customer marketing directing at Coca-Cola European Partners GB, said: “Coca-Cola is a brand that has become synonymous with Christmas, with many people considering the launch of the ‘Holidays Are Coming’ advert and the Coca-Cola Truck tour as the unofficial start of the festive season. With more than half of consumers starting Christmas preparation before December, we are looking to encourage early sales by launching our Christmas activity in November. Last year 10m more shopping baskets included a soft drink during Christmas compared to 2015, and we expect this year to be even bigger, showing the huge opportunity for retailers during the festive period.”
