Crown Wins UK Packaging Award for Hourglass Shaped Can

27/10/06 CROWN Food Europe, a subsidiary of Crown Holdings, Inc., has won the 2006 UK Packaging Award in the Metal Packaging Category for the distinctive Waistline low-calorie foods can. The hourglass shaped can, specially developed for Crosse & Blackwell, one of Premier Foods' leading canned food brands, also received a "Highly Commended" rating in the Technical Innovation Category. Crown and other recipients were honored at an awards ceremony held on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

The three-piece cans include an EOLE III steel easy-open end for greater convenience and decorative shrink sleeving for outstanding shelf appearance.

Organized by Packaging News magazine, the awards bring together the diverse businesses involved in the production of packaging - from designers and marketers to material suppliers, converters, processors, fillers and machinery manufacturers - to celebrate outstanding achievement. Entries were judged by a panel of buyers and specifiers from various consumer product goods companies throughout the United Kingdom.
