The Verband der Wellpappen-Industrie (VDW), the organization of corrugated board-industry, distinguished DS Smith once again with the innovation award “Goldene Welle”. Design, shape and construction as well as the brand impact of a display for the brand “AFTER EIGHT” of Nestlé convinced the jury.
Once every two years the VDW awards outstanding innovations of the corrugated board-industry. Already in 2012 DS Smith stood with two of their solutions on the winner's podium. This year the company reached the 2nd place with a display for the chocolate-brand "AFTER EIGHT" in the category "sales promotion".
The display impresses with its unique shape. Its shape is based on the world-famous London's landmark Big Ben. The design was fitted perfectly towards the product – an advent calendar in the form of the Big Ben. A wide range of the assortment of the popular "AFTER EIGHT-chocolates" is in the inside. Just like the brand presence of "AFTER EIGHT" – the colors of the display are a significant dark green paired with elements in gold. It leaves a lasting impression by the use of a six-color offset-print and a finishing with dispersion varnish.
The easy to handle six-color construction allows a display filling process with a minimum of effort. On three different levels the display makes an eye-catching product presentation possible. Aside from that the customer is able to take the product out of the display from all four sides. Furthermore the "AFTER EIGHT-Display" persuades with the building up on a 1/4-pallet with high stability and transport safety. The construction is executed in form of an arch display. It has two equivalent parts with a fold-up roof. The one-material solution made the recycling after the sale plainly easier.
