5/31/2011 --- ELOPAK is about to finalize establishment of a new manufacturing plant in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Production is due to be operational by summer 2011 serving the Russian and CIS markets. Construction for the 10,000m2 plant is now completed and its management team has been operational on site since January. ELOPAK is currently scaling up its production team and at present training is taking place for operators and technicians during acceptance test runs of the equipment.
Production is due to be operational by the summer serving the Russian and CIS markets. The location of Saint Petersburg was both practical and strategic for ELOPAK. “It is the ideal location for the new converting plant,” says Project Director Behcet Ciragan. “Situated to the south east, the site is in close proximity with the main highway to Finland, important for a good board supply. The latest in filling and print technology together with ELOPAK’s carton design innovation capabilities will support a diverse and dynamic market.”
From this flagship site, ELOPAK will be producing 1 billion cartons by 2012 serving both dairy and juice, fresh and aseptic markets. “This market is 100% brand led and demands from customers are becoming increasingly creative and complex. These will be matched with a highly skilled and experienced local team, backed by a global organisation, dedicated the flexibility, innovation and quality needed to support our customers,” states Pavel Vylegzhanin, Director Market Area CIS.
Plant Manager Alexey Evdokimov is one of those responsible for showing around the first visitors to the Saint Petersburg site. He was appointed six months ago and says, “A local team has been recruited to serve the local market and this is important for a solid understanding and workable partnerships. Quality, partnership and growth will be part of our strategy going forward. All the team is delighted to welcome our first visitors with the delegates and organizers of the Global Dairy Congress.”
