Erema and Lindner Washtech have opened a new subsidiary, Erema India. The joint sales and service subsidiary aims to meet the growing demand for recycling solutions, which is a response to the Indian government’s 60% recycled plastic content mandate for packaging to be enforced by 2029.
The new subsidiary is said to provide faster access to high-end technology for the full range of mechanical recycling and local support.
Christoph Wöss, global sales director at Erema Group, says: “The Indian market is developing at an impressive pace. The combination of regulatory tailwinds and increasing quality requirements makes India a strategically important growth market.”

“Over the past two years, we have seen in bottle-to-bottle recycling how quickly implementation progresses once the regulatory framework is set. The next steps, including mandatory recycling quotas for all plastic packaging that will gradually increase to 60% by 2029, offer enormous potential, especially in the post-consumer sector.”
Growing market demand
In the bottle-to-bottle sector, more recycling plants are expected to be installed by 2026, according to Erema and Lindner Washtech.
Manfred Hackl, CEO at Erema Group, says: “India is one of the most dynamic markets for plastics recycling worldwide. With Erema India, we are creating the framework to support our customers even more precisely.”
“The close interaction between local presence and combined system expertise is the key to accompanying the Indian market in its rapid development.”
Erema India aims to support Indian recyclers with technology for washing, extrusion, and thermal decontamination. Erema and Lindner Washtech have collaborated to deliver fully coordinated process chains. This allows recycling companies to meet quality requirements, including international food contact standards.
Tech-driven recycling solutions
The Indian subsidiary operates in Vadodara and Mumbai. It will work alongside the local service organization, which offers support for commissioning, troubleshooting, and after-sales service.
Ganesh Karankal, sales director and partner of business unit washing at Erema India, says: “With strong local service support, continuous technology upgrades, and a close collaboration with our customers, we are committed to transforming India into a global hub for high-quality recyclates and closed-loop recycling solutions.”
“Lindner’s washing equipment plays a crucial role in ensuring a stable and reliable treatment process, which, together with Erema’s extrusion technology, provides recyclers with integrated system expertise enabling them to consistently produce food-grade quality, increase production efficiency, and achieve long-term operational excellence.”
For polyolefins such as high-density PE, low-density PE, and PP, the integrated recycling solutions create a process chain that is said to be able to handle complex post-consumer waste streams.
Maharshi Mehta, sales director of business unit extrusion at Erema India, shares: “Following the washing and separating stages, the Intarema extrusion system in combination with the ReFresher module reliably removes odours, ensuring the highest quality of recycled output.”
Erema India also provides access for ReadyMac and ReadyWash. It aims to run a fast delivery system in a standardized design for customers looking for efficient recycling technology in a lower price segment.
