Glass-Like PET for Wine
The bottle implied minute studies on design, perfected down to the smallest detail in order to transmit the same tastes of freshness and old flavour that glass does.
14/02/08 PET Engineering experience in terms of technology and design is once again shaping up into an exclusive PET wine bottle, looking very similar to the most classic glass bottle.
The 0.75 L bottle recalls the silhouette of a typical bordolese wine bottle: cylinder shape, pronounced shoulder, concave bottom. Closing is done by an aluminium cap and a B.V.S filet very similar to those used now for screw caps on glass wine bottles.
The bottle implied minute studies on design, perfected down to the smallest detail in order to transmit the same tastes of freshness and old flavour that glass does.
In depth research has been carried out especially with regard to the technical dimension: starting from the product’s intrinsic qualities in terms of shelf life and respecting its organoleptic features, research moved to all requirements related to environmental conditions, type of bottling and logistics.
Once all requirements were envisaged, PET Engineering collaborated with CONSTAR International, a US based company, that developed an ad hoc conceived perform, made up of a Diamond Clear monolayer material.
The 50 gram bottle preserves wine quality and ensures resistance to axial load during bottling as well; it was actually designed to be filled on ordinary glass bottle lines and can be blown on any machine, according to clients’ needs.
Once design overcomes the psychological barrier of a different packaging, wine in PET can preserve the same characteristics of a traditional glass bottle. Moreover, it features various advantages and a wide range of usage: from normal travelling to air transport, from exports to outdoors.
