Krohne Inc., a global technology leader in the development, manufacture and distribution of accurate, reliable and cost effective level and flow measurement products for the process industries, introduces its new Optiflux 6300 Grade A Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) meter, which shortens the holding time for milk in the pasteurization loop, improving output and increasing efficiency. The Optiflux 6300 is approved by the Atlantic Midwest Dairy Equipment Review Committee (AMDERC) for use in pasteurization loops in accordance with FDA requirements.
The Optiflux 6300 has been certified as meeting all relevant FDA and AMDERC standards and requirements, and has been reviewed by FDA for use in a pasteurization loop installation. The meter is approved under 3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc. (3-A SSI) and is compliant with clean in place (CIP) requirements.
The PMO meter is used in pasteurization loops where raw milk is pumped through a heater section and either hot water or steam on opposite sides of thin walled pipe heats the milk to 161 degrees F (72 degrees C). The milk, at pasteurization temperature, flows through the holding tubes where it must be held for at least 15 seconds. Many installations hold the milk for far longer than required; those using the Optiflux 6300 PMO meter can easily reduce holding time, thereby increasing their pasteurization loop’s output and efficiency.
