Launch of Domino DSL Plus Laser Coders Promises Further OEE Benefits

Domino plus products offer an unrivalled combination of the latest Domino coding and marking technology combined with a host of additional user benefits including reduced set-up time and fast product changeovers.

25/01/08 Domino Printing Sciences plc, the global ink jet and laser solutions provider, has announced the launch of its new DSL plus range of laser coders. The announcement heralds significant productivity benefits and improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) for users of the acclaimed and highly versatile DSL range of high performance scribing lasers.

This is the latest in a series of launches for the Domino plus programme, an initiative being rolled out across the entire Domino portfolio, including the popular S-Series plus laser products.

The Domino DSL plus range harnesses pioneering laser technology and an extremely user-friendly interface to deliver efficient, permanent and precise coding in the most demanding production environments. The quality and consistency of Domino's hallmark laser technology reduces the risk of costly product returns. Furthermore, the DSL plus has the widest mark window and duty cycle performance in its class, providing numerous options for complex code, real time data, and track & trace applications without compromising speed or up time.

Supported by Domino's global sales and service network, the range includes three models, boasting 10W, 30W and 55W lasers respectively. In addition, all DSL plus models are available in a pharma version that is 21 CFR part 11 and GAMP compliant with a complete validation package if required.

The DSL plus provides greater functionality thanks to the improved Windows based software. The new Basic User Interface option provides quick message selection and start up. Coupled with the new Text Assistant, the user-friendly WYSIWYG color touch-screen ensures codes are quick and easy to set up and edit.

Additionally, the onboard Ethernet and availability of an OPC server permits the DSL plus to integrate seamlessly into Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA) systems. This functionality enables complete coder control including remote message selection, code changes, status monitoring, and performance metric data.

The DSL plus range also offers the advantage of a direct interface to the Domino DPX fume extraction system for automatic removal of fumes and particles, thereby ensuring consistent code quality and reduced rejects, as well as providing a clean environment for personnel in the vicinity.

As part of the plus initiative, Domino has also launched a series of support products specifically designed for DSL plus users. Comprising a flexible set of modules, which include start up training, maintenance and technical support, TotalCare plus provides customers with a predictable cost of ownership and ensures high equipment effectiveness over an agreed period.
