The award-winning Mull of Kintyre Scottish Cheddar range has been given a brand new look.
From this October its Mature, Extra Mature, Vintage and Truckle varieties will be available in new packs inspired by the provenance, quality and heritage of the brand.
The new packaging and campaign, entitled "Going the extra mile", reflects the traditional and dedicated efforts of producers on farm and staff at the Campbeltown Creamery to make the perfect end product.
This includes battling the daily elements of the rugged flora and fauna-filled coastal landscape or working round the clock to ensure that the cheddar is checked at every stage.
Mull of Kintyre's commitment to the end product is just part of daily life in producing the Scottish Cheddar and is the attention to detail that has helped the brand achieve its award-winning status.
Claire Irvine of First Milk and brand manager for Mull of Kintyre Scottish Cheddar says: "We are proud of the brand’s heritage, traditional recipe and quality so we wanted the new packaging to reflect this.
"We feel that the new packaging evokes the provenance, commitment to process and our values and will create enough standout on shelf to persuade consumers that our cheese really is worth going the extra mile for.
"The cheese is positioned as a quality, every day, accessible cheese but one with a rich and distinctive flavour."
Milk to the creamery is supplied by 38 local farms whose cows graze on the lush and fertile dairy pastures while being exposed to the rugged landscape and coastal weather that is familiar to the area.
This all combines to result in a healthy and fertile graze which helps towards the final rich, distinct, savoury and delicate sweetness of Mull of Kintyre Scottish Cheddar.
Using milk only from local dairy herds, Mull of Kintyre Scottish Cheddar is crafted at the historic Campbeltown Creamery which has been producing cheese since the early 1900s.
The creamery’s dedicated team has many years' experience and this has helped ensure the cheddar’s quality and distinction recognised through its many awards, including its Gold win for Champion Scottish Cheese at the International Cheese Awards in 2010 and 2011.
Specialist cheese graders with extensive knowledge hand-select only the highest quality cheddar for the 200g, 300g and 400g pre-packed cheese as well as for the waxed truckles.
Mull of Kintyre Scottish Cheddar is available nationwide at Waitrose and Sainsbury's and also in Tesco, Morrisons, the Co-op, ADSA, Lidl, quality independents and wholesalers throughout Scotland.
