Trident®, a Warner Lambert global brand of sugarless chewing gum, is well-known for its distinctive flat package of five mouth-sized pieces. As it tried to build a marketplace for Trident® in Brazil, it was important to Warner Lambert that the product also be known for the reliability of its package#s seal. That wasn't a problem, thanks to the teamwork of DuPont packaging and Sao Paulo converter Inapel. Executives at Inapel developed a flexible package for Trident® consisting of a printed film of polyethylene laminated to foil coated with DuPont Surlyn® 1652SR packaging resin, to replace its original package made of low-density polyethylene. DuPont Surlyn® 1652SR offers exceptional adhesion on aluminum foil by the extrusion coating process and excellent coefficient of friction performance on Warner Lambert's machines. As a result, Warner Lambert is able to achieve faster machine speeds due to higher hot tack and lower sealing temperatures. This wider temperature window also is responsible for increased productivity and more reliable seals for their important chewing gum brand. And, as they market Trident® to Latin America's largest economy with a population of 155 million mouths, that has Warner Lambert smiling in Brazil.
