Mexican food brand Old El Paso is to update its tortilla and nacho ranges in a move designed to adopt more traditional cooking methods and improve flavors. The ingredients for its Nacho Dinner Kit and Nachips have been changed to replace corn flour with whole corn kernels and the production process includes kettle-cooking and soaking. Original Tortilla Chips (Salted and Chili) will be downsized from 200g to 185g per pack. A new packaging design will support the changes.
Lindsay Hill, marketing manager for Old El Paso at brand owner General Mills, said: “We are excited to be leading the way with these more-authentic and tastier updates to Old El Paso nachos and tortilla chips.” “We aim to continually review and improve our products, processes and packaging to ensure we are bringing a product range to the market that is well aligned with the quality consumers expect from the brand.”
