Party Scene Unimagineable without Aluminium Packaging
The Stella Artois beer brand from Belgium with its gold-coloured aluminium bottle is a big hit in the “in” clubs and discotheques.
20/12/07 Clever product ideas and special packaging designs play a decisive role when it comes to catering sales for events and the leisure scene. In order to be able to successfully position what are mostly high-priced products in this niche market, one needs packaging that captivates by its striking design and high perceived value. With its elegant sheen and multifaceted design potential, aluminium is the first choice material here because it epitomises premium quality like no other packaging material.
In the disco and club scene, aluminium bottles are in greater demand than ever. A well-known example is the VODSTAR bottle. Only 11 cm high, the 10-cl aluminium bottle with its crown cork and ‘Spirit of Life’ slogan opens up a completely new segment in the vodka market. The small energy pack looks cool, fits neatly in the hand with its special shape and turns drinking a fistful of vodka into pure pleasure.
The iTiS aluminium beverage can, which is filled with brut or blanc sparkling wine, is used mainly in event catering. It is not only because of its elegant, slim shape that it stands out: the embossed logo in particular gives the product an unmistakeable identity and provides the brand with reliable protection against product piracy. The unique haptics conveyed by the embossing further strengthen the brand presence.
Thanks to a velvety overprint varnish, the beverage can sits nice and snugly in the hand and together with the contents this leads to perfect drinking pleasure. Another catering hit for the leisure scene are Conelly Cocktails, which have caused a revolution using only two small beverage cans. The two cans, which are joined by a red ring, are filled separately, one with a mixture of spirits and the other with a mixture of fruit juices.
A cocktail can be mixed in no time at all: simply open the cans, pour the contents into an aluminium shaker, add ice cubes, shake and the cocktail is ready. It is drunk directly from the shaker. Conelly has based its choice of drinks on the international cocktail hit parade, with five currently available: Mai Tai, Planters Punch, Sex on the Beach, Lady Killer and Tequila Sunrise. Other cocktails are planned, including alcohol-free ones.
Premium products packaged in aluminium have also found their way into the Russian party scene. The Stella Artois beer brand from Belgium with its gold-coloured aluminium bottle is a big hit in the “in” clubs and discotheques. With its smart design, the bottle portrays a compelling premium nature and is the absolute eyecatcher at parties. The bottles come in 0.2-1.0 litre sizes and can have a shiny or matt finish. In addition, there is a specially decorated version that glows under UV light in the disco.
And Coca-Cola also uses a shaped aluminium bottle with fluorescent effects to provide an optimal presence for its Burn energy drink. The long bottleneck gives the product an unmistakeable appearance. In addition, the use of a special ink ensures that the flame that is printed on the black bottle glows in the dark. This effect positions Burn in the right light as the ideal “in” drink in pubs and discos. Not least because of this, the bottle has won the renowned Starpack Award. In catering for events and the leisure scene, aluminium turns the spotlight on unusual products. In niche markets in particular, unusual products require unusual packaging that promotes the image of the product effectively. Aluminium packaging draws attention to products in an impressive manner, as well as being sustainable and eco-friendly thanks to its excellent recyclability.
