Global packaging solutions provider Payne has won a prestigious Asian Manufacturing Award 2012 for its innovative Supastrip VDP (Variable Data Print) tape.
Supastrip VDP was selected as winner in the Innovative Packaging Solution category, presented to the product which “demonstrate(s) creative use of new materials or processing technologies such that the final packaged product delivers a “wow” factor to the end consumer while still remaining fully functional in use”.
Winners were announced on 27 September during a glittering Grand Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, organised and hosted by the Manufacturing Group of publications at Contineo Media.
Commenting on the award Martin Dallas, Payne’s Managing Director, says: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award, which was chosen by a judging panel made up of highly-respected professionals and distinguished leaders in the industry and recognises our focus on innovation as a means to deliver value to our customer and consumers.”
Suitable for use on many different flexible pack styles, Supastrip VDP has been used by leading multinational companies including Nestlé, Wrigley’s and Imperial Tobacco.
It combines the latest in digital print technology with gravure printing to deliver over 500 million unique digitally printed codes together with a promotional message at the consumer’s fingertips, making it ideal for entering online or via SMS.
Supastrip VDP can be added easily to an existing pack, so short-term promotions can take place and consumer messages can be updated quickly – keeping them relevant and fresh for the target market.
Because there is no need to change the whole pack design, this reduces expensive origination costs and packaging waste, strengthening the environmental credentials of the overall pack and the brand.
Dallas continues: “This award reinforces our confidence in Supastrip VDP as an innovative way of combining the functionality of on-pack easy opening with the delivery of a unique code for consumer communication, offering brand owners easy to find and read promotional possibilities from the inside of the pack.”
