Printpack Receives Triple Innovation Award for Re-Seal It®
Printpack, a leading flexible packaging specialist, and Scottish-based customer Walkers Shortbread are celebrating a triple award success in a little over six months with their re-closable Re-Seal It® pack, in association with Macfarlane Labels.
Printpack, a leading flexible packaging specialist, and Scottish-based customer Walkers Shortbread are celebrating a triple award success in a little over six months with their re-closable Re-Seal It® pack, in association with Macfarlane Labels. The innovative format allows consumers to open packages easily and then reclose them, keeping the remaining contents in the pack fresh.
The pack was recently honoured with the 2013 Silver Flexible Packaging Achievement (FPA) Award in Packaging Excellence in the United States. In addition to this accolade, the pack has been recognised by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO), who named Printpack as a WorldStar winner. This award will be officially presented at the awards ceremony in Sydney, Australia on May 9th 2013. In 2012, the shortbread pack received its first success with the Starpack Award of Excellence from the UK Packaging Society.
Walkers Shortbread is the first company to use Printpack’s Reclose format on a VFFS (vertical form fill seal) application, to pack shortbread in the UK. Printpack’s re-closable solution was created in response to demand for packaging that is simple to open and easy to reclose. Re-Seal It®, Macfarlane Labels’ innovative labelling system, is pre-applied to packaging material by Printpack and the package is then formed, filled and sealed on Walkers’ equipment, with no additional machinery investment or labelling complications. It provides benefits to consumers who are looking for added convenience and product freshness whilst offering food manufacturers a way to differentiate their product and maintain brand integrity.
Walkers' Technical Director, Richard Walker said: “Printpack’s contribution and support in developing the new format was enormous. Working closely with their product development team has helped us to find a better packaging solution and enable us to launch this new innovation.
