Range Extensions Strengthen Huhtamaki's Lead In Premium Insulated Coffee Cups

Huhtamaki, the worldwide leader in food service packaging, strengthens its offering of insulated cups for the booming gourmet takeaway coffee market. Premium Cuppoccino double-wall cups have been available in the versatile 9 oz. size from early 2002. Their success has led the company to commission new tooling, extending the range by 8 and 12 oz. cups.

Premium Cuppoccino double-wall cups have been available in the versatile 9 oz. size from early 2002. Their success has led the company to commission new tooling, extending the range by 8 and 12 oz. cups. The 12 oz. cup is eminently suitable for large coffee drinks, such as Cappuccino and Latte, whereas the smaller size is primarily intended for serving dessert coffee in quick service restaurants.

"The embossed surface of Cuppoccino gives the cup optimal insulation and heat retention properties, rigidity, and a refined, upmarket look and feel. Strong taper means ideal filling properties while ensuring space-saving stackability. The cup is simply a joy to dispense, hold and drink from," comments Business Development Manager Minna Laitinen from Huhtamaki's Food Service Category. For customers who prefer a premium cup with smooth sidewalls for superior printing quality, with no compromise on insulation, Huhtamaki has developed a new insulation cup together with Stora Enso Consumer Boards.

Huhtamaki's Technology & Development Centre in Hämeenlinna, Finland, has played a key role in the project. The new cup features a fluted board layer between the smooth inner and outer sidewalls. The outer surface can be specified either glossy or matte. The new cups will be available from the beginning of 2003. "The new cup offers various possibilities for printing multicolour, high-definition images on a glossy or matte surface, thus maximising the cup's value in communication and brand-building. We expect the smooth version of Cuppoccino to be a hit among customers, who want to use it as a platform for specific messages or promotional themes," Minna Laitinen says.

With both the embossed and smooth alternatives available in three key sizes, gourmet coffee customers can always find the right insulation coffee cup from Huhtamaki's Cuppoccino range. Matching white and black sip-through lids complement the offering.
