RKW Finland Wins EFIA Print Award 2014
24 Mar 2014 --- RKW, one of the leading manufacturers of plastic films and nonwovens, has been once more singled out by the European Flexographic Industry Association for its excellent print quality. At the awards ceremony for the EFIA Print Awards 2014 in Bolton, England, the Business Unit RKW Finland won gold in the category "International Flexo Print on Film".
This is the third time that a packaging solution from the RKW-Group has received an EFIA award. This year, the company impressed the jury with an outer packaging design for the Finnish brewery Sinebrychoff and its “KOFF Lite” brand. The film was printed using the latest Full HD Flexo technology – and the brilliant end product is the result of close cooperation between RKW Finland and Finnish company Marvaco Ltd., one of Northern Europe's leading manufacturers of repro and printing plates.
What sets the outer packaging apart in particular is its exceptionally efficient implementation: It was printed using the three colors cyan, magenta and yellow instead of the normal four-color printing. Esko Full HD Flexo technology delivers impressive printing results thanks to its unique dot size, fine highlight printing, smooth transitions to zero and an outstanding solid ink lay down. "We are delighted with the award, which is also an incentive for us to continue setting the highest standards in terms of quality and precision," said Pekka Saariluoma, Managing Director of RKW Finland.
The Business Unit RKW Finland is one of the world's first printing companies to receive the Esko Full HD Flexo Certificate. To obtain this certification, the repro and printing operations must meet strictly defined criteria. Ten different print samples featuring both extremely bright and extremely dark areas are evaluated. Esko Full HD Flexo printing combines high resolution flexo-imaging and screening technology.
