RPC Blackburn gives Sharwood's a squeeze
With a heritage of over one hundred years, Sharwood’s Green Label Mango Chutney is one of the most recognised chutneys in the UK.
22/05/06 A stylish squeezable bottle manufactured by RPC Containers Blackburn has helped Ambient Asian meals category leader, Sharwood’s, become the first brand to introduce a squeezy bottle into the chutney market. In a move which follows the success of squeezy mayonnaises, Sharwood’s is aiming to revolutionise the chutney and pickles sector with the launch of Green Label Squeezy Mango Chutney.
With a heritage of over one hundred years, Sharwood’s Green Label Mango Chutney is one of the most recognised chutneys in the UK. The launch of the squeezy bottle is another example of how Sharwood’s is tapping into lighter meals and eating to appeal to even more consumers. As well as spicing up traditional Indian dishes at home, the squeezy chutney livens up sandwiches, salads and grilled meats.
Recognising the impact that squeezable bottles have made to the condiment market in terms of consumer convenience and reusability, food manufacturer Centura Foods Ltd asked RPC Blackburn to produce a bottle that could deliver these qualities whilst remaining true to the distinctive Green Label brand.
The custom-moulded 322ml bottle is injection moulded in clear PET to achieve optimum squeezability, whilst further convenience is provided by the upside-down shape. The curved appearance of the bottle adds an element of style, and the large labelling area allows Centura to give prominence to the familiar Green Label branding.
"We wanted something sleek and funky that would appeal to consumers," comments Helen Williams, Group Brand Manager for Sharwood’s Indian. "RPC Blackburn’s expertise in PET and its ability to work within short lead times made it the ideal partner to produce the bottle."
