Sainsbury's Moves Blueberry Line Into Amcor PushPop Packs
PushPop packs are made from a two-ply laminate of natural oriented polypropylene (OPP) that is reverse printed and laminated to a white polyethylene (PE).
24/03/09 Sainsbury's has adopted Amcor Flexibles' PushPop pack for blueberries only months after it used the plastic pouch for its own-brand range of chocolates.
The PushPop has a special perforation on the top of the pack which can be pushed in to pop the pack open. Holes have been incorporated into the bottom of the pack so the fruit can be washed.

All surfaces of the stackable PushPop can be printed.
Stuart Lendrum, packaging manager at Sainsbury's said: "The pack is easy to open, easy to use and it allows us to reduce the packaging weight by 75%."
Sainsbury's launched its Taste the Difference chocolates in the PushPop in July 2008.
In September the retailer also launched its SO Organic wild rocket salad in a "non-genetically modified, compostable film", the product of a joint venture between Amcor Flexibles and Flextrus.
Sainsbury's previously sold its blueberries in a PET tray with a clip-on lid.
Amcor Flexibles supplies flexible packaging to the food, beverage, tobacco and healthcare markets. It has annual sales of €1.8bn (£1.7bn) and operates in 22 countries across Europe and the US.
