Sealed Air Cryovac Introduces Odor Scavenging To Freshness Plus Line

Reinforcing its long-standing reputation as an industry leader in fresh food packaging, Sealed Air introduces Cryovac® Freshness Plus™ Odor Scavenging technology. Ideal for a variety of processed meats, particularly poultry-based items, the new material debuted during the 2011 International Poultry Expo in Atlanta at Sealed Air Cryovac’s booth (5648).

The newest addition to the Freshness Plus™ family of active packaging materials eliminates off-odors or confinement odors that may be mistaken for spoilage. The unique material contains additives that scavenge various sulfur and aldehyde volatiles from the food package to maintain freshness and aroma.

Safer and more economical than sachets, Cryovac® Freshness Plus™ Odor Scavenging technology can be integrated into bags, forming films and lidding materials. The technology incorporates scavenging mechanisms into the packaging material, making it invisible to consumers. The improved quality life of products packaged in Freshness Plus™ active packaging can help reduce shrink and provide a broader selling window for retailers.

For processors, the extended shelf life from Freshness Plus™ Odor Scavenging allows for new or wider distribution channels. The material requires no additional activation step, so can be run on existing rollstock, thermoforming and vacuum chamber equipment.
