Weekly Roundup: BillerudKorsnäs appoints VP for paper, Constantia Flexibles strives toward 100 percent recyclability

Four packaging companies have joined together to form the sustainability-focused Mauser Packaging Solutions and Peli BioThermal opened its latest service centers in Basel and Berlin. The British Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Magazine has awarded GEA with this year's RAC Cooling Industry Awards in the category “Building Energy Project.” Constantia Flexibles pledged that 100 percent of its consumer and pharma packaging will be recyclable by 2025.

BillerudKorsnäs has appointed Helene Biström as its Senior Vice President for Paper, one of the company’s three divisions in the new organization that came into effect on October 1st: Board, Paper and Solutions. Biström is an experienced leader with previous assignments as deputy CEO of Vattenfall and CEO of Norrenergi. Biström also has a background with several significant board assignments, including as chairman of Sveaskog, and is currently active in Pöyry's Board.

Bway, Mauser Group, National Container Group (NCG) and Industrial Container Services (ICS) are forming one company coined Mauser Packaging Solutions. The newly formed company will integrate the history and innovation of Bway and Mauser Group with the global recollection and reconditioning capabilities of NCG and ICS – making the company the first of its kind to reliably and sustainably deliver products and services across the entire packaging lifecycle for customers around the globe. The new company’s tagline will read “Redefining Sustainability.”
Peli BioThermal, producer of temperature controlled packaging, officially opened its latest service centers in Basel and Berlin, serving the global pharmaceuticals sector. The new facilities, located in Switzerland and Germany, are the latest in the company’s growing global expansion to support its complete portfolio of Crēdo reusable shippers, from parcel to pallet sizes. Situated in key logistics locations for both pharmaceutical manufacturing and transfer, the Basel and Berlin hubs will enable global Peli BioThermal clients to receive and return the reusable Credo line of temperature controlled packaging.

The British Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Magazine (RAC) has awarded GEA with this year's RAC Cooling Industry Awards in the category “Building Energy Project.” The globally renowned award honors companies that are particularly committed to environmentally friendly and innovative solutions in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry. The jury chose GEA as the winner of the grand prize because the project presented by GEA is a prime example of “innovation and significant energy savings.” Using a 1.5 MW booster compressor as a booster heat pump, which recompresses the exhaust gases, the GEA solution made it possible to heat the water to 67 degrees Celsius.

Mondi was jointly recognized with charitable organization Caritas Austria for their successful nine-year collaboration with the Partnership of the Year award at the 25th annual Fundraising Awards ceremony held by the Austrian Fundraising Association (FVA) on 8 October. Mondi supports Caritas in running four Mondi ‘Study Cafés’ across Austria. Study Cafés are welcoming places where children and youths from socially disadvantaged families can come to study and receive free help with their schoolwork.
Constantia Flexibles has pledged that 100 percent of its consumer and pharma packaging will be recyclable by 2025. The pledge outlines that future product innovations will focus on the implementation of design guidelines to develop specifications which are recyclable – in practice and on a commercial scale.
