50 Years WP in Dinkelsbühl
WP Lebensmitteltechnik celebrated its 50th anniversary at the Dinkelsbühl location with a Family Day. The staff and their families enjoyed a varied programme of savory live baking at the WP Technikum technology center, interesting facility tours and countless entertaining activities such as cinema for kids on the bakery trade, balloon twisting and a balloon competition.
In 1964, Werner & Pfleiderer founded its location in Dinkelsbühl, Bavaria. The company – up until then established only in Stuttgart-Feuerbach – was thriving becauseits engineers managed to revolutionize oven technology with the development of a new type of deck baking oven in steel heatdesign, the WP MATADOR. The enormous worldwide demand had taken the capacity of WP production in the state capital of Baden-Württemberg to its very limits. As space and workforce were scarce in Stuttgart, WP expanded its operations and gradually shifted the entire baking oven production to Dinkelsbühl up until 1973. The roll baking system production for artisan bakeries followed up until 1978.
In 1986, the successful company was taken over by the Krupp Group and expanded further. In 1990, the administrative and design departments also moved from Stuttgart to Dinkelsbühl. Jürgen Horstmann acquired the facility in 1996 and started to build the WP BAKERYGROUP. The Dinkelsbühl facility today is the competence center within the WP corporation for the production of baking ovens and bakery machines for artisan baking technology as well as for large-scale systems for industrial baking. The entire range of baking oven construction is covered, from in-store baking oven to large-scale ovens with semi or fully automatic loading and automation systems.
Apart from sales, construction and development, administration and human resources, the Dinkelsbühl WP facilities also house their own Service GmbH. It is responsible for after sales service worldwide, assembly and spare parts management.
