Berry Global launches stackable jar and cleaning bottle for shelf appeal wins
11 Jan 2022 --- Berry Global is launching a stackable jar as a space-saving solution for retailer shelves, e-commerce channels and consumer homes. Meanwhile, the plastic packaging giant’s Berry M&H division is unveiling a complete pack and closure solution for cleaning products.
The 500ml Staka jar combines consumer convenience product protection, reusability and recyclability credentials.
The solution incorporates a 63 mm recess in the base into which the accompanying 63 mm cap – from Berry Global’s complete container and closure offering – fits conveniently. This design allows the jars to be easily stacked and remain stable.
The product underlines Berry’s expertise in devising solutions in line with customer requirements, as John Richardson, general manager at the Berry Corby facility in the UK, explains.
“Many of our customers have approached us recently, keen to develop stackable jars for all sorts of products from spices and sauces for our food clients to lubricants in the commercial sector, so we feel confident that there is a need for this design,” he says.
Brand appeal stacks up
The Staka jar’s cap can be specified in various colors, while its eye-catching “square round” design is ideal for labeling or sleeving, creating optimized brand identity and individuality on shelf.
For food manufacturers and processors, the jar’s wide mouth ensures easy filling. Its multilayer construction also allows hot filling and delivers effective product protection for extended shelf life, minimizing food waste.
The jar also provides safe and easy handling for consumers. After use, it is suitable as a storage container and can be recycled where appropriate recycling facilities exist, the supplier shares.
Personalized cleaning
Meanwhile, Berry M&H’s new standard design for cleaning products such as washing up liquids and rinse aids provides a complete pack and closure solution while allowing companies to personalize the bottle.
In line with Berry Global’s Impact 2025 sustainability strategy, the 500 ml PET bottle can also be specified with post-consumer recycled content from 30-100% and is widely recyclable, enabling brands to choose a pack manufactured for the circular economy.
“This latest combination underlines Berry M&H’s commitment to developing solutions that enable brand owners to maximize both the on-shelf appeal and user-convenience of their packaging, while also helping them to meet their [environmental] sustainability goals,” says Martyn Magee, homecare and commercial sales lead at the Berry M&H Cluster.
Graphic details
The bottle features a 28 mm neck diameter paired with Berry M&H’s polypropylene screw-on flip-top cap. Moreover, the design features a large surface area suitable for labeling, allowing companies to create attractive graphics while still including all necessary product information.
The on-shelf appeal is further enhanced by the clarity of the PET, which helps to accentuate the product’s color, as does a choice of colors for the closure, delivering an overall individual appearance.
In November, Berry Global recorded record net sales for 2021 despite cost inflation and supply challenges.
