Brand Debuts With Colorful Packaging
Birchbox, a beauty and grooming retailer, has expanded into product development with the launch of its debut brand, LOC (Love of Color). The LOC Fall/Winter 2015 launch collection, available on Birchbox website, features two products in multiple colors: Vibrant Matte Lipstick, $8 each, and One & Done Eye shadow Stick, $10 each. The sticks are low-maintenance yet high-impactful and designed in a compact size to last for the season, allowing customers to stay on trend and experience more colors at an attainable price point.

When it comes to the color management behind the package design, Melinda Small, director of product development & regulatory at Birchbox says convenience is a key factor. "We selected the packaging with the shade-matched end pieces to keep in line with the LOC brand being easy to use and foolproof. If you have multiple products in your make-up bag, it makes it convenient to find what shade you're looking for. The overall design of the packaging was determined to be black and white in order to really showcase the color, which is the star of the line," Small says. Birchbox plans to create two trend-based LOC collections per year, introducing additional products and new shades each season.
