CCL Industries is set to acquire Sleever International Company, a provider of shrink sleeve labels and application equipment for consumer packaged goods and healthcare, for approximately US$151 million.
The companies have signed a binding Option Agreement for the purchase, which, once finalized, is set to close in mid 2026.
Geoffrey T. Martin, president and CEO at CCL Industries, says: “We have known Eric Fresnel, the visionary, entrepreneurial leader, and principal shareholder of Sleever, for almost 20 years.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to combine our respective sleeve product lines, which together was approximately US$700 million in sales in 2025.”
Raising Sleever’s profits
Headquartered near Paris, France, Sleever operates 11 manufacturing facilities in Canada, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Poland, China, and Brazil.
According to CCL Industries, Sleever’s sales for 2025 were approximately US$213 million in total, with an estimated adjusted EBITDA margin of 11.1%.
“Over the next several years, we aim to raise Sleever’s adjusted EBITDA margins up to the CCL Segment average through a combination of strategic investments to drive innovation, cost savings, and new sales growth opportunities,” says Martin.
“Eric Fresnel will continue with us post-close to provide support in an advisory capacity, and we look forward to welcoming Sleever’s 900 employees to our company.”
Tapping into label trends
CCL Industrial is a manufacturer of specialty labels, security, and packaging solutions for global corporations, government institutions, small businesses, and consumers.
Recently, CCL Label, the group’s largest division, introduced SmartCask (by Checkpoint), a next-generation identification and data platform designed to enhance the security and transparency of whisky cask management.
Meanwhile, it also launched a range of PP lids, In Mould Labels, stretch sleeves, and monomaterial pouches to help dairy companies comply with the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
