Pudsey-based, The Chilli Jam Man is enjoying record breaking sales after making fundamental changes to its labeling content.
Following work with deliciouslyorkshire, The Chilli Jam Man now includes specific nutritional breakdowns on all its labels in a bid to gain consumer confidence in the products.
The move comes as consumers are concerning themselves more and more with what goes into the products they purchase.

The new label launch has also been timed to coincide with the start of the new year, hoping newly health conscious consumers will be more attracted to their products, finding it easier to access nutritional information.
The range of condiments from the brand includes; Garlic Chilli Jam, Ginger Chilli Jam, Original Chilli Jam, Smoky Chilli Jam, Bhut Jolokia Chilli Jam, Three Peaks Chilli Jam, and Yorkshire Dragon Chilli Jam.
Simon Barrett, owner of The Chilli Jam Man said: “In this day and age consumers expect all food products to have comprehensive nutritional information on the labelling so I knew that in order to take the brand to the next level this was something I needed to address.
“Being a small business with limited resource and knowledge about certain areas it was a massive help to be able to call on the experts at deliciouslyorkshire to help with this. The results have been amazing and almost immediate – with November seeing record-breaking sales.”
Deb Neeson, NPD account manager at deliciouslyorkshire commented: “We worked with Simon to break down the nutritional information. It’s all fresh produce; a typical jar consists of tomato, chilli, garlic, ginger, vinegar, sugar and a dash of Nam Pla for depth of flavour. There’s no supermarket tomato puree or chilli paste present and we were really keen to ensure that this was reflected in the labeling.”
Simon has had his partnership with deliciouslyorkshire over the past year, gaining experience and benefitting from working with industry experts.
Simon added: “Working with deliciouslyorkshire has without doubt hugely contributed to the ongoing success of The Chilli Jam Man brand. Showcasing under the deliciouslyorkshire banner gives me instant kudos. I’m not just selling on an obscure market stall; I’m a recognised brand thanks to this collaboration.”
“The relationship also gives me the ability to be able to expand at a much faster rate than if I had to do everything on my own. Following last month’s record breaking sales the next step is growing the business even further with plans in the pipeline for new premises and tripling the size of the workforce.”
The relatively new business has enjoyed growth in sales over 2010, most recently teaming up with Robinsons Pork Butchers to produce a chilli jam pork pie.
Also in the pipeline is a collaboration with fellow deliciouslyorkshire member, Adam Palmer of Yorkshire Cold Press Rapeseed Oil to make a chilli mayonnaise, to be named and trademarked as ‘Chilli Jamonnaise’.
