Gerber Products Co., Fremont, MI, is now serving up more convenient feeding options for parents with new plastic packaging. Portable and easy to use, the revolutionary plastic containers will help simplify busy parents' lifestyles.
The first company to offer baby food in plastic packaging in the U.S., Gerber is introducing the innovation with its 4-oz juices and some of its most popular 2nd Foods recipes. Both containers offer a 12-month shelflife. All 16 flavors of juices, including 100-percent Fruit, Garden, and Juice & Yogurt blends, are now available in multilayer plastic bottles, made primarily of polypropylene.
The bottle has a multilayer foil seal heat-sealed to the top, while the closure incorporates a tamper-evident ring and liner. Bottles and closures are supplied by Owens Brockway Plastic Products. The products are available as single servings and in four-packs.
Gerber’s most popular 2nd Foods recipes, Applesauce, Bananas and Pears, are now available in four-packs of 3.5-oz plastic containers nationwide. The multilayer containers, which are comprised of a polystyrene exterior and a polyethylene interior, have a multilayer foil membrane, with the Gerber name and product type printed on it, heat-sealed across the top of the container. A snap-on plastic lid enables users to reseal the container after it has been opened. Four containers are packed in a wraparound cardboard sleeve with see-though openings in the top.
